For shoppers: Treat $20,000 as a starting filter. Final quotes, availability, vehicle history and incentive eligibility still need to be checked with the dealer.

The most common models in this sample

The Ford F-150 had the largest model sample, with 217 vehicles across 51 dealer sources. The table ranks models by vehicle count, not sales or popularity.

These medians mix model years, trims, mileage and used or certified condition. They describe the available mix, not the fair value of an individual vehicle. Each model shown has at least 20 vehicles across three dealer sources.

What we counted, and what we left out

A fixed snapshot. We extracted public, active, approved Louisiana car listings at 10:08 a.m. CDT on October 28, 2026. “Used cars” here includes SUVs, pickups and vans, with 4,299 used vehicles and 225 dealer-labeled certified vehicles in the final sample. New vehicles, unknown-condition listings and other vehicle categories were excluded.

A recent observation requirement. Of 22,704 used or certified listings in the extract, 17,887 had not been observed within the preceding seven days. Of the 4,817 recent listings, 3 lacked a valid VIN and 290 lacked an eligible purchase price. That leaves 4,524 priced vehicles. No valid VIN appeared twice in that recent sample.

Advertised purchase prices in US dollars. We exclude prices below $1,000 for used vehicles and below $5,000 for certified vehicles, which may be payments or placeholders. Captured mandatory fees are added only when they are not already included. Fee details were available for 1,669 vehicles; missing fee details do not establish that no fees apply. Tax, title and registration are excluded.

Equal weight per vehicle. The median is the middle advertised price after sorting, or the average of the two middle prices for an even sample. Price bands include their lower bound and exclude the next band’s threshold. We use normalized make and model identities and count each valid VIN once, keeping the most recent observation if duplicates occur.

Coverage is uneven. These 83 dealer sources are not a random or complete sample of Louisiana. Larger inventories count more: the largest source contributes 11.1% of the vehicles. Source counts do not imply separate ownership groups. Refresh coverage and vehicle mix affect the result; it is not a statewide price estimate, a dealer-quality ranking or evidence that prices rose or fell.
